This afternoon we hosted an investor call with Ruth Cotter, SVP, Marketing, Human Resources & Investor Relations for Advanced Micro Devices.
As you can imagine, there’s a lot going on at AMD. They’ve diversified their business and their strategy is paying off. They now have their “best ever product portfolio” in 4 segments: Data Center, Client, Gaming, and Embedded. Ruth walked us through each business segment and thoroughly answered questions from participating investors.
We also heard about the Xilinx integration, which seems to be going very well. It sounds like it was an excellent $49B investment – which was quickly followed by another $1.9B acquisition (AMD Pensando), which was another winner. The TAM (Total Addressable Market) for AMD is over $300B, and they’re gaining client revenue share. Even at their size, there’s a lot of growth potential.
The biggest takeaway for me today is how well AMD has diversified. They have a “Revenue Diversified Business” through their 4 different business segments. They also have a diversity of suppliers – smart planning.
We would like to extend a sincere “Thank You” to Ruth Cotter and AMD as a whole. We fund our social mission of supporting veterans and disadvantaged young adults through the success of our business, and that wouldn’t be possible without great companies like AMD!
