Roberts & Ryan and the Institute for the Study of War hosted a virtual geopolitical discussion. Topics included:
- State of the War in Gaza: Israeli and Hamas war aims and where they stand relative to those aims.
- The War in a Regional Context: Iran and the Axis’ war aims and where they stand relative to those aims.
- Forecast: The potential developments and outcomes of the Israel-Hamas War, and their implications for the region at large.
Stephen Galliot, Director of Research, Institute for the Study of War – Prior to joining ISW, Stephen served for 10 years in the Department of Defense as an intelligence officer on Middle East, Africa, and South Asia issues. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Boston University and a Master of Arts in International Security from George Mason University. He currently is a PhD student in George Mason University’s Political Science program.
Brian Carter, Salafi-Jihadism Team Lead & Analyst, Critical Threats Project, American Enterprise Institute – Brian focuses on Iran’s activity across the Middle East. Brian received his M.A. in International Affairs from American University’s School of International Service. He graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.A. in Politics and International Affairs and a minor in Modern Standard Arabic.
Johanna Moore, Iran Research Assistant, Institute for the Study of War – Johanna is a Middle East Researcher with the Institute for the Study of War, covering Iran’s Axis of Resistance in Iraq and the Levant. Johanna graduated from American University with an M.A. in U.S. Foreign Policy and National Security with an emphasis in Middle East Studies.
